Good riddance to those nuisance spreadsheets that were attempting to keep track of the organization's decisions and priority of them. Decise offers a more efficient and digital way to keep track of your most pressing pending initiatives. Decision priority is arguable the most important aspect of decision making. Even the best decision could accidentally be given the wrong priority, causing negative impact to the business.
Decise is not just a software platform where you can use it as a blank canvas. Decise has been built with decision intelligence. It is there to guide better decision making, so that your Organization can make better decisions.
A part of this guidance is our input into best practices surrounding the decision making process, one of them being prioritisation.
Decision List
Having visibility of all initiatives, projects, decision and ideas your Organization is deliberating over in one place is a pre-requisite to prioritisation.
You cannot prioritise what you can't see.
You cannot prioritise well what you cannot directly compare.
Decise solves both of these complex business challenges in one platform.
The Decision List provides the opportunity for organizations to consolidate and display ALL decisions it is contemplating, big or small, in one place.
When you navigate to Decisions in the left panel, you instantly find a list of all of your decisions in order of their status.
Filter the list to simplify your search or Search for any decision specifically (using Decision ID or name). This will provide you with instant knowledge as to where the decision is at.
TIP
When you click on the Decision ID in the decision detail screen, it instantly copies it to your clipboard, you can therefore paste it in the search bar for a quick find.
Adding a Priority Number
All decisions have a Priority field. Here you can add any number from 1 onwards.
There are two ways to update the Priority number.
1. Go to Decisions in the left navigation panel.
2. In the Decision List you can add the priority number directly in the field called Priority.
OR
If you are in the detailed decision screen update the Priority field there.
Observe the Decision List
The Decision List, even without sorting by priority number yet, provides an extremely insightful view of your Organization's commitment to manage project decisions based on what is the most important to the company.
If you see top priority decisions i.e. ones with numbers 1 - 5 only in the Open status, yet other lower priority number decisions further along in their workflow, such as in the Submitted or awaiting other Approvers statuses, this is an indication that your prioritisation framework may need evaluation.
In the example on the right, a decision that is 7th in priority has already been submitted for approval, ahead of the number 1 and number 2 priority decisions.
Sorting by Priority
In each Status section of the Decision List, decisions can be sorted by its Priority number. Choose to always pay attention to the decisions your Organization has determined is the highest in priority and give them the effort first.
To sort by Priority Number go the Decisions list and press the up or down arrow to view it in ascending or descending order.
Priority Framework
To optimise your Organization's decision making process, Decise recommends that you adopt a Prioritisation Framework that best suits the practices and outcomes of your entity.
The Decise platform allows the space for the priority number to be documented. However your Organization should choose this number in a governed way.
